J. Pierre, as he's popularly known, was born and raised in the exciting city of New Orleans in the early seventies. He was exposed to the city's rich culture at an early age as he expressed interest in music, drama and visual arts. During the eighties Pierre began to capture the spirit and soul of New Orleans in his paintings. 'New Orleans Red Hot', one of his most acclaimed pieces, depicts the heart of the City of Jazz in rare form.
Pierre's works have been exhibited throughout the country as well as before an international audience at the annual Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Mississippi River Festival. The many works of art he’s displayed around the city fascinate his local fans. He's shipped his paintings all over the world through the vehicle of 'J. Pierre's Fine Art Gallery'. Pierre has also rendered countless live performance paintings of jazz bands from 'Snug Harbor' in New Orleans to 'The Jazz Standard' in New York City
His local fans are fascinated by the many works of art he’s displayed around the city such as being commissioned to paint one of the forty Fleur de Lis’ located in the heart of the Central Business District and doing the official poster for the 2007 ESSENCE Music Festival to working with youths in neighborhood parks and painting murals throughout the city. Pierre has shipped his paintings all over the world through the vehicle of J. Pierre’s Fine Art Gallery.
In spite of devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Pierre is determined to preserve the culture of his hometown by creating and recreating images that tell the stories of the past and the present and all of the hopes and dreams in between. He's greatest desire is to share his gift with inner city youth. His soulful and dynamic intensity is seen within his work. He's been called a young contemporary visionary who's sincere about maintaining the culture of his great city, New Orleans |
