New Orleans own, Jamar Pierre, Commissioned to do the 2007 ESSENCE Music Festival Poster

J. Pierre, as he is popularly known, has been commissioned by ESSENCE to do the
2007 ESSENCE Music Festival official poster. Known for capturing the spirit and soul of New Orleans in his paintings, he depicts the heart of the City of Jazz in rare form. He is determined to preserve the culture of his home town by creating and recreating images that tell the stories of the past and present of his culturally diverse city.
Born and raised in the exciting city of New Orleans in the early seventies, he was exposed to the city’s rich culture at an early age as he expressed interest in music, drama and visual arts. Pierre’s works have been exhibited throughout the country, as well as before an international audience at the annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for the past 10 years. He has also rendered countless live performance paintings of jazz bands in Paris, France to Snug Harbor in New Orleans and The Jazz Standard in New York City.
His local fans are fascinated by the many works of art he’s displayed around the city such as being commissioned to paint one the Fleur de Lis’ located in the heart of the Central Business District in front of Gallier Hall on St. Charles Avenue to working with youths in neighborhood parks and painting murals throughout the city. Pierre has shipped his paintings all over the world through the vehicle of J. Pierre Studio.
The official 2007 ESSENCE Music Festival poster will be available at the ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans, July 5th -7th at the Ernest. N. Morial Convention Center. J. Pierre will also have a booth displaying the original painting of the poster, along with many of his paintings. |
